Sing to the King!

God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:15-16

I've decided to rename Monday for myself.

Would you care to humor me in this? Perhaps join me? Monday's have such a bad rap. Such dread and negativity follow the word. Just speaking the word "Monday" can sometimes evoke a sigh. Especially as a mom of three little boys, when Daddy goes back to work...Sigh. There he goes. Monday.

I say there are three things in life you CAN NOT do and be in a bad mood. 1) eat ice cream 2) listen to oldies and 3) Worship the LORD. Impossible.

So Monday mornings that's what we are going to do.

Worship.

I am born of a long line of music lovers. The first and foremost being my sweet Mama. Could she ever sing. Growing up, people at church would stop singing the hymn just so they could hear her sing in the pew behind them. She had a powerful, rich, Aretha Franklin soul. She went to be with the Lord in March of 2005 (I am feeling rather reflective about her this week). A huge bonus for the Heavenly hosts ;). All this to say, when I worship the Lord in song, I feel as if I have an inside track on her. It is the only part of my day that I can bet we are doing the same thing. I look forward to the day that I'll join in singing with her and all the redeemed!

Look back to 1 Timothy 6:15-16. Oh, the Majesty of God! Yes, God is our Friend. Our Father. Our Healer. Our Brother. But, God is also the Sovereign King of kings and Lord of lords who is robed in Glory and worthy of our praise. I am talking knees to the ground honor and reverence.

He alone is immortal and lives in unapproachable light. (v.16) Sit with this. We serve an immortal, undying, everlasting God. The brilliance of his Glory is described here as "unapproachable light." He is Radiant, Glorious, All Powerful! One day we will see him face to face. Oh, God you are Stunning.

Hebrews 13:15 says to "let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise - the fruit of our lips that confesses his name." Let me say, that praise in song is a "sacrifice" for some. Maybe it's not your thing. Well, that is just fine. Give thanks to his name. Let us confess that He is King...not us.

So this Monday, and every Monday, my heart is prostate before Him and will sing to, "God the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is [everlasting] and lives in unapproachable [Glory]!...To Him be honor and might forever! Amen!"

Sing to the King
Sing to the King Who is coming to Reign.
Glory to Jesus, the Lamb that was slain.
Life and salvation His empire shall bring.
And joy to the nations when Jesus is King.

Repeat

Chorus: Come, let us sing a song,
A song declaring we belong to Jesus!
He is all we need!
Lift up a heart of praise!
Sing now with voices raised to Jesus.
Sing to the King!

For His returning we watch and we pray.
We will be ready the dawn of that day.
We'll join in singing with all the redeemed
'Cause Satan is vanquished and Jesus is King!!!! (I LOVE IT!)

Repeat Chorus

New Mercies this Monday!

  1. I say you can't be sad when you are hanging out w good friends, sharing hearts and POINTING EACH OTHER TO THE LORD!
And not to mention.. you have a coke in your hand!
I bet my mom and your mom are hanging out in heaven... especially on those Mondays we meet saying "Look at our girls..." and they pray that we will WITH ALL OUR HEARTS SEEK JESUS... cause that is ALL THAT MATTERS!
