I have carried burdens this week. From sick children, to school assignments, to doctor's appointments, to relational hardship, it has been a week of little burdens. I seek refuge in Psalm 55:22.
Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Are you burdened this morning?
I am deeply moved by the music of the band Needtobreathe. From the soulfulness of his voice to the lyrics of each song, I enjoy the Lord through listening.
Something about their music makes me want to put on my blue suede shoes and find a friend in Memphis.
This song, Lay 'Em Down, brings me joy.
I encourage you to lay your burdens down today. Refresh in worship this morning. Allow the Lord to carry your trouble. He will sustain you.
Enjoy him today.
I would love to hear what music is speaking to your heart lately.
I am always excited to learn of new worship music.
Please share with us by posting a comment.
Love you all this Friday (and every Friday)...
P.S. Thanks to Jenn for making my "Grab My Button" button! She did an awesome job!!
Lay 'Em Down
Come down to the river
Come and let yourself in
Make good on a promise
To never hurt again
If you're lost and lonely
You're Broken down
Bring all of your troubles
Come lay 'em down
All you sinners
And the weak at heart
All you helpless
On the boulevards
Wherever you are now
Whatever evil you've found
Bring all of your troubles
And come lay 'em down
We're all tied to the same old failing
Finding shelter in things we know
We're all dirty like corrupted small towns
We'll bring our troubles
We'll bring our troubles
Lay 'em down
All you rich men
And the high above
All of those with and without love
All you burdened broken down
Bring all of your troubles
Come lay 'em down
Come lay 'em down
Come all you broken
Come all you helpless
Bring all your burden
And just lay 'em down
Come all you broken
Come all you helpless
Bring all your troubles
Just lay 'em down

I agree 100%!! God stirs my heart with music. Which is why I come to your BLOG EVERY DAY, even if I can't read at that moment, just to have your MUSIC going in the background of all the chaos that is happening in my house! Greatest play list on the internet! :) Another favorite artist of mine is Rita Springer. Very cool, raspy voice, clearly in love with Jesus and not afraid to sing about Him! Check her out if you're not already familiar with her! Have a great day, Becky!
ReplyDeleteThis is funny that you asked about music. I open up your blog in my kitchen and let the music play sometimes all day! The other day I lost my temper with Jonah (my 3 year old) and Watermark's "Who Am I?" was playing. I sent him to his room and as the music played, I heard "Who am I that you would love me so gently? Who am I that you would speak to me so softly?" Talk about conviction! I wasn't gentle in my discipline and had to apologize. I've even won my husband over. I've noticed he opens your blog up just to listen even when I'm not home. Thanks for the tunes!
ReplyDeleteI love needtobreathe!! Right now I am very into Invisible God by Andrew Peterson. I'm usually not into real quiet music, but this song is so worshipful it brings me to tears and I am wearing it out playing it over and over! Lyrics:
ReplyDelete"I give you praise, O Great Invisible God, for the moon in the space of a dark night, for the smile on a face in the sunlight. I give you praise, O Great Invisible God, for the sound of the storm on the window, for the morning adorned with a new snow, for the tears on the face of the old man made clean by the grace of the good Lamb.
And oh, I long to see your face, Invisible, Invisible God. All the works that you have made are clearly seen and plain as day, so mighty and tender. O Lord, let me remember that I see you everywhere, Invisible God, in the seed that descends to the old earth and arises again with a new birth; in the sinner who sinks in the river and emerges again, delivered.
And oh, I long to see your face, Invisible, Invisible God. All the works that you have made are clearly seen and plain as day, so mighty and tender. O Lord, let me remember, your power eternal, your nature divine. All creation tells the tale that Love is real and so alive. I feel you, I hear you, Great God Unseen I see you in the long, cold death that the winter brings and the sweet resurrection spring." - Andrew Peterson- Resurrection Letters Volume 2
Love Needtobreathe!! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI love that song, & I love Needtobreathe! I've posted at least 5 of their songs, but haven't posted this one yet for some reason! Lately, I've really been enjoying Lovelite. I love their style of worship. Their album "All Color" is available for free download at Come&Live! (You have to click on their CD, there's not a direct link to it). OK, now I need to do a blog post!
