To Do This Weekend: Simplify

Sim-pli-fy (v.) to reduce to basic essentials

This morning, I sip my coffee and stare at the meaning of that word. Simplify. Just the basic essentials of life.

My God. My family. A chicken cooked all day in the crock pot. A warm dinner on a cold night, with my people, around my dining room table. A good book. A hot cup of Sleepytime tea.

Oh, to simplify our lives. To rebel against the speed of this culture. To say to its crazy pace, "No, thank you. I think I'll pass."

It strikes me funny that "simplifying" is a verb. An action. I like that. Maybe on second thought, I will be busy this weekend...busy simplifying my life.

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

Be still - raphah meaning...to relax. To let go. To let drop. To be quiet. To relax.

I posted this definition on Facebook last Sunday. I have meditated on it all week. Practicing the art and action of being still. Simplifying. Letting a few things drop. Relaxing a bit.

Will you join me this weekend in this "raphah-ing" attitude.

Where are you right now? In your office? At your kitchen table. (Tracie - are you in bed reading this on your phone?)

Wherever you are, THIS VERY SECOND, He is God. He is present. Relax. Be quiet and know He is with you... all day long.
