Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27
O.K....So I know that Jesus is not necessarily speaking of your actual next door neighbor in this verse. Nevertheless, this commandment, THE GREATEST commandment, although speaking of everyone you know, definitely includes your next door neighbor. And the neighbor two and three doors down. The neighbors you wave cordial hellos to each day as you drive past. That neighbor that does a little too much in their yard at Christmastime. That neighbor that should really stop parking on the street and use their driveway. And the neighbor you would like to get to know better, but you just don't have the time.
Day Four and Five: Love your neighbor.
This weekend is the time to reach out to your neighborhood. In anyway, either big or small, what can you do to love your neighbor? Maybe it is hosting a few people for pre-game Super Bowl appetizers? Or making a loaf of banana bread to give away to that sweet lady who walks her dog? Maybe instead of waving to the person across the street, actually walking over and ask how they are doing. (Guilty! I am always in such a hurry. I personally need to make more time to speak to my neighbors! I really like all of them!) It is not happenstance that I am in this house...on this street...living around the people around me. God has ordained my residence. He has ordained yours, too. What would He have you do there?
You have two days! What will you do this weekend to love your neighbors? Leave a comment!

New to home-steading and finding ways to become more sufficient in a waning economy, my daughters and I have raised a brood of laying hens. I love to share our bounty of eggs with our neighbors and co-workers. We throughly enjoy their expressions when they open the carton to find blue, green, white and chocolate brown farm-fresh eggs.
